His body immediately tensed up as he felt her grow closer. She was extremely intimidating, but in a good way. His body covered in goosebumps as she touched his skin, her finger lifting his chin and he indulged himself in her firm gaze. He gulped feeling a slight twitch in his neck as she brought up the pain that she could cause him. Surprisingly, he trusted that she wouldn’t cause him any harm. She was far too interested in him at this point. “Don’t worry, I believe you.” He forced a smile and sat back as her hands roamed down his chest. He took in a sigh of relief as she sat back now keeping her hands to herself. “I’m just confused.. this girl.. confuses me.” He let out and looked down folding his hands together. “She told me she wanted to be with me and then she took it back and now she wants to be with me again. I don’t quite understand it.” Lucas felt like he was being jerked in different directions when it came to his feelings and it all frustrated him to no end. “It’s exhausting to say the least.” He finally worked up the nerve to look up at her again, this time more confidently. “Anyways, my problems are minor. And I would really like to know more about you.”

“For someone so dark and mysterious, you don’t leave much to the imagination,” Samantha replied, briskly, keeping her eyes keen on his face. Flashing a saucy grin, she edged herself deeper into the conversation, hungry for more— despite his lack of groveling. It was strange to think she had gone so long without feeling any real emotion for anyone all these years, yet… here was Lucas, and Samantha felt like she could go through all sorts of trouble to keep him protected. What was that about? Forever seeming unsure, she raised her eyes to meet his and wondered what it was he saw in her that had him staring like that. “I didn’t peg you to be a hopeless fool. Suppose surprises truly do come in unexpected packages.” With a wink, she continued. “I will let you in on one thing. I don’t know much about you, or your life, or any situation you’ve been in, but I can tell you no one is worth more than one chance. You don’t always get second chances to keep someone. You don’t always get the third, and the fourth, and the fifth, and the sixth, and the seventh, and the eighth, and the ninth chance to decide you’re going to take them seriously. They are not always going to be that forgiving. You’re lucky if they forgive you once. So for this girl to go on to wanting you, to not wanting you, to wanting you again… Luke, I’m sorry, but she’s taking advantage.” Suddenly, she was on her feet. “People should appreciate what they have and treat them the way they deserve to be fucking treated. The ones who blindly bury others in the dirt will come to one day understand through their own suffering what it was like to want someone with no response.” Casting a look over in Lucas’ direction, Samantha pinched her thumb and forefinger to her temple and closed her eyes, releasing a small sigh. “My apologies. I shouldn’t have gotten so worked up. I think I’m passionate about all the wrong things.” Laughing the matter off, she rubbed her hands back through her hair and glanced around, wandering back over to where he was sitting. “You’ll figure things out. Instead of saying sooner or later, let’s go with sooner. You’re the one with the heart here. Watch out for yourself. More importantly, watch out for your heart.” Taking a moment to reflect on the words that had come out of her mouth, Samantha tried to regain composure. What had come over her? Clearing her throat, she took a seat back down next to him and inhaled a slow, deep breath. As soon as she felt like she was back and ready for more, she readjusted her posture. “I don’t know how much you’d like to know, so I won’t jump right into the gore of things. Go ahead and tell me what it is you’d like to inquire, and I’ll do my best to fulfill those crevices.”
